We departed from Pelham Park RV Park at 9:15AM CDT and headed Northwest on US-287 towards Amarillo, TX. We stopped for fuel at the Love’s Travel Stop in Wichita Falls, TX. We then continued on to the TA Travel Center in Amarillo, TX for more fuel. We then headed West on I-40.
We pulled into Midpoint Campground in Adrian, TX at 2:45PM CDT (319 miles). Adrian is the midpoint of Route 66, positioned 1,139 miles from both Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California, hence the name of the campground.
This campground is pretty much a parking lot, but the price is right at $30/night. It has full hookups and sits at 4,042′ in elevation providing us with a nice cool breeze. We have the camper open and it’s 72 degrees inside. The campground is not manned and payment is via the honor system with an envelope. So far, there only two other campers here. We saw no rules regarding washing RV’s so we quickly washed all the Texas bugs off of the front of the camper.
